Alain El Youssef holds a B.A. in History from the University of São Paulo (2007), as well as a Master's degree (2011) and a PhD (2019) in Social History from the same institution. He has experience in the area of History, with emphasis on politics, diplomacy, slave trade, slavery and abolition in the Empire of Brazil. He is a member of the Laboratório de Estudos sobre o Brasil e o Sistema Mundial (Lab-Mundi/USP) and coordinator, together with Marcelo Ferraro, of the research group ?Capital, Estado e Trabalho: a crise da escravidão negra no longo século XIX?. Alain is the author of Imprensa e escravidão: política e tráfico negreiro no Império do Brasil (Rio de Janeiro, 1822-1850) (Intermeios, 2016). He is currently working on a book project that analyzes the Brazilian abolitionist process from a global perspective. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
