Graduated in Dentistry from the University of São Paulo (FOUSP, 1980). She completed a Master's in the Oral Diagnosis Program (1989) and a PhD in the Oral Pathology Program (1993), both at FOUSP. She completed a research internship with a Capes Sandwich grant (1991-1993) and then a Post-Doctorate at the National Institutes of Health, NIH (1993-1994) in the United States with a grant from the Fogarty Foundation. Since 2011, she has been a Full Professor at FOUSP. She was coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Dentistry/Dentistry at FOUSP and President of the Postgraduate Committee at FOUSP. Since 2012, she has been a guest professor at the Graduate Program Lasers in Dentistry at RWTH Aachen University in Germany, where she guides students and teaches the subject Low Level Laser Therapy. She coordinated the first International Doctorate (Dinter) in Brazil approved by Capes between FOUSP and the Faculty of Dentistry of the Central University of Ecuador (2016-2018). Since 2019, she has been a professor at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Ibirapuera University (UNIB) where she coordinates the UNIb Graduate Program. She belongs to the editorial board of national and international journals and is associate editor of the "Lasers in Dental Sciences", "laser international magazine of laser dentistry" and the Revista de la Facultad de Odontologia de la Universidad Central del Ecuador. She is a reviewer for several international journals and national funding agencies and international universities. Vice-President of the Executive Board of the International Society for Laser Dentistry (ISLD) and President of the Brazilian Association of Laser in Dentistry and Health (ABLOS). She is currently a member of the Capes Dentistry Evaluation Committee. She has experience in Dentistry, with emphasis on photobiomodulation therapy. She has worked mainly on the following topics: biological effects of laser, especially in tissue regeneration using stem cells from human dental pulps, and biocompatibility of dental materials, using in vitro research techniques based on cell culture and in vivo with laboratory animals.
