Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences Medical Modality (Escola Paulista de Medicina, EPM, 1979), Master's (1983), and Ph. and at the Center for Vaccine Development (Baltimore, USA) (1986). She was a Postgraduate Adjunct Coordinator at the Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Research at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) (03/2013-04/2017). She was Head of the Discipline of Microbiology at EPM, UNIFESP (2001-2003 and 2017-2022) and a member of the Graduate Teaching Commission of the Graduate Program in Microbiology and Immunology at UNIFESP (2001-2006 and 2017-current ). She is a Full Professor at UNIFESP, member and vice-coordinator of the Commission for Evaluation of Committee for Admission to the Teaching Career at EPM, member of the Commission for Accreditation and Re-accreditation of the Chamber of Graduate Studies and Research at EPM, UNIFESP (2014-current ). She is a Review Editor for the Frontiers in Cellular in Infection Microbiology Journal. She is a reviewer for several national and international journals. Member of the CNPq Advisory Committee on Microbiology and Parasitology (07/2022 to 06/2025) and coordinator of the Graduate Program in Microbiology and Immunology (EPM, UNIFESP) (06/2023-current). She has experience in the field of Microbiology (bacteriology), with emphasis on genetic diversity, bacterial pathogenicity, and epidemiology, working mainly on the following topics: adherence, invasion, diarrhea, mucus, mucinases, urinary tract infections, enteropathogenic Escherichia coli, enteroaggregative E. coli, uropathogenic E. coli, hybrid strains of E. coli and Escherichia albertii.
