He is Full Professor at the Department of Zoology, University of São Paulo since 1996, was Director of the Museu de Zoologia, Universdade de São Paulo (1997-2001), head of Department of Zoology, Instituto de Biociências, University of São Paulo (2002-2007), Research Associate of the American Museum of Natural History, member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and of Academy of Sciences of State of São Paulo.
