She did Graduation Course at Escola Paulista de Medicina, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP) (1975), master degree in Molecular Biology UNIFESP (1978) and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology UNIFESP (1986). She did post-doctoral studies in Neuroscience (1988-1990) and in 2003 won the title of Full Professor, Department of Experimental Neurology, Department of Neurology / Neurosurgery UNIFESP. She is currently an associate professor and has experience in the area of Neurochemistry, with emphasis on Neurochemistry of Epilepsies, working mainly on projects involving neurochemical mechanisms involved in epileptogenesis and seizure generation. Supervised several undergraduate students, master degree, PhD and post-doctoral students. She received several awards and in the last 6 years has been the coordinator of the Post-Graduation Program in Neurology / Neuroscience UNIFESP. She is currently vice chair of the Department of Biochemistry (since 2012), is part of the Technical Research Committee of UNIFESP.
