CV Lattes ORCID

Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto (FMRP)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Professor at the Department of Biomolecular Sciences, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto (DCBm/FCFRP-USP). Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of São Carlos - UFSCar (2003), Master's degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto - FMRP/USP (2006) and a PhD in Biochemistry from the same institution (2009). He was the researcher responsible for a Grant for Young Researchers from FAPESP, at the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (2017 - 2021), having supervised undergraduate and Doctorate students. He taught courses in the Postgraduate Program in Biochemistry - FMRP/USP from 2014 to 2021. He completed a Post-Doctorate and maintains active collaboration with excellence groups in Canada (University of Montreal) and Switzerland (Paul Scherrer Institut). He also maintains collaboration with groups in Brazil (UNIFESP, UFRJ, UFRGS). His research aims to study intracellular signaling, non-canonical actions of G Proteins and "biased agonism" in GPCRs, with potential for pharmaceutical and clinical application. He uses different modern approaches, based on BRET technique, to evaluate the activation, translocation and regulation of G proteins and their effectors, but also to analyze the trafficking and activation mechanisms of GPCRs. He uses such techniques for pharmacological characterization of molecules that target GPCRs, with the aim of elucidating the effects of non-canonical G protein signaling on cellular physiology. This process will lead to the identification of molecules with less harmful actions, potentially leading to the development of new drugs with greater clinical efficacy and fewer adverse effects.
