M.Sc. in nuclear technology with a specialization in prompt gamma-rays from the University of São Paulo (1983) and Ph.D. in nuclear science ad technology with a specialization in Hyperfine Interactions from the University of São Paulo (USP, 1992). Post-doctorate in Condensed Matter Physics from the Hahn-Meitner Institute, Berlin, Germany (1993-1994). He is currently a professor at the Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research (IPEN) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development. Team leader at ISOLDE, CERN, Geneva, Switzerland. Has experience in Condensed Matter Physics, with emphasis on Hyperfine Interactions and perturbed angular correlation (PAC) spectroscopy, acting on the following subjects: study of hyperfine interactions in magnetic, semiconductor and superconductor materials in the form of intermetallic compounds or oxides by PAC spectroscopy. Synthesis and characterization of semiconductor oxides in the form of nanoparticles and thin films. Investigation of hyperfine interactions in metal-biomolecule complexes. Synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications. He carries out experimental research at ISOLDE, CERN with measurements of hyperfine interactions by PAC technique using probe nuclei implanted into materials. He is an accredited advisor at IPEN/USP and teaches the postgraduate course TNA5770 - Nuclear techniques applied to microscopic investigation of materials. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
