Atala has graduation in Food Engineering at Foundation Federal University of Rio Grande FURG (1997), Master´s at Science and Technology (MSc) in Food Engineering at State University of Campinas UNICAMP (2000), Ph.D. at Science and Technology in Food Engineering at State University of Campinas UNICAMP (2004), Postdoctorate in Food Engineering at State University of Campinas UNICAMP (2005) and Postdoctorate in Chemistry Engineering at State University of Campinas UNICAMP (2006) Currently Atala acts as Industrial Technology Leader at CTBE and also Collaborating researcher in the College of Chemistry Engineering (Chemistry Process Department - DPQ) and the College of Food Engineering (Food Engineering Department - DEA) both of the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP; and Professor in Jaguariúna College. Previously Atala worked as Industrial Technology Leader at BP Biofuels Brazil responsable for industrial improvement at Sugarcane mills. At CTC Sugarcane Technology Center - he worked as Senior Researcher responsible for research and development (R&D) in Alcohol Production and Biorefinery Products. Atala has experience in Food Engineering and Technology, with emphasis in Fermentation Processes and the Chemical Engineering area, with emphasis in Chemical Industrial Processes acting mainly in the following subjects: Conventional and non-convention Alcoholic fermentation; Process Intensification; Modeling, Simulation and Supervise of Fermentation Bioprocesses; Development Software Sensor; Instrumentation and Control of Bioprocesses; Microbiology?s Fermentation; Biorefinery (Sugar-Alcohol-Chemistry). Atala has works published in many scientific Journals; Brazilin Patent of Extractive Fermentation Process by Vacuum Flash Drum System; book chapters; Funding Projects of research approved with institutions partners; great interaction with diverse groups of research in Brazil; Advisory Students of graduation and Post-Graduation in Chemical Engineering and Food Engineering area; some prizes between them the Prize Young Scientist granted for the Bunge Foundation in the area of Agroenergy and Prize Mercosul of Science and Technology promoted for the RECyT Related with Atala´s role at the private corporation: Over 15-year experience in operational and management positions in Research and Development at SUEZ; Bioprocess Improvement; CTBE (Brazilian Bioethanol / Bioeconomy Laboratory); Raizen; BP (British Petroleum) and CTC (Sugarcane Technology Center in English). Experience in management of technology portfolio focused for improvement production and performance, processes intensification and debottlenecking process. Total management of R&D area, involving processes, budgets, structuring and leading technicians and experts teams. Experience in technologies development from design to industrial scale, through feasibility assessment and testing in pilot plant, Demo Plant and Industrial application. Track record of success in managing innovation projects and optimization of industrial processes with significant increases in productivity and production capacity in the sugarcane industry. Leadership in project management, acting as the principal interface with the areas of the company and externally with other companies and research institutes. International experience in the United States, seeking synergies and guiding projects at BP?s research center and also international collaborative agreements at CTBE Degree in Food Engineering at Federal University of Rio Grande, Masters and PhD in Food Engineering at Unicamp and Postdoctoral in Chemical Engineering at Unicamp.
