Márcia Azevedo de Abreu

Marcia Abreu holds a degree in literature from the University of Campinas (1984) and got her Ph.D. in Literary Theory at the same University (1993). She did postdoctoral work in Cultural History at the Ecole des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris (1996-1997) with Roger Chartier and became full professor in Brazilian literature at UNICAMP in 2002. She teaches Literary History at UNICAMP and has coordinated several collective projects. She has published several works, among which stand out the books The transatlantic circulation of novels between Europe and Brazil, 1789 - 1914 (2017); The Cultural Revolution of the Nineteenth Century: Theatre, the Book-Trade and Reading in the Transatlantic World, ed. with Ana Claudia Suriani da Silva (2016); Impresso no Brasil dois séculos de livros brasileiros, ed. with Aníbal Bragança (2010) book which won the Prize Jabuti 2011; ?Reading in colonial Brazil?.
