The Brazilian three-banded armadillo (Tolypeutes tricinctus) belongs to the order Cingulata, is endemic to Brazil, and occurs in Caatinga and Cerrado biomes. It was believed to be extinct, but it was rediscovered in the early 1990s in different localities.
