Arlene G. Corrêa received her Ph.D. from the Federal University of São Carlos (1991) under the supervision of Professor Timothy J. Brocksom, with a sandwich program at University of Grenoble with Professor Andrew E. Greene. Then she completed her postdoctoral trainings with Professor Paul A. Wender (Stanford University, CA, 1997). She is Professor in Department of Chemistry at the University Federal of São Carlos. Her research interest on medicinal chemistry is the synthesis of bioactive natural products and analogs, employing combinatorial technologies and green chemistry, with potential application on the treatment of tropical diseases. Her group has also contributed in chemical ecology with the isolation, identification and synthesis of insect pheromones. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, member of the Brazilian Chemical Society and American Chemical Society and director of the FAPESP/GSK Centre of Excellence for Research in Sustainable Chemistry.
