holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Campinas (1979), a master's degree (1985) and doctorate (1990) in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the State University of Campinas and "livre docência" in Toxicology from the University of São Paulo (2011). She completed a postdoctoral internship at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the United States. She was a visiting professor at the Wilson College of Textiles at North Carolina State University (2018-2019). She is currently a full professor at the Faculty of Technology at UNICAMP and coordinates the Laboratory of Ecotoxicology and Genotoxicity LAEG. She worked for 22 years at the Environmental Agency of State of São Paulo (CETESB). Actively participated in the revision of CONAMA resolution 357/2005 and in the elaboration of CONAMA resolution 396/2008. She also contributed to the revisions of the potability ordinance in Brazil. She was president of the Brazilian Society of Environmental Mutagenesis, Carcinogenesis and Teratogenesis. Member of the editorial board of Environmental Molecular Mutagenesis. Se is a member of the International Initiative on Water Quality - IIWQ Experts Advisory Group of UNESCO-IHP. She has experience in the area of Environmental Toxicology, working mainly in the areas of environmental mutagenesis, ecotoxicology, toxicology of dyes of natural and synthetic origin and regulatory toxicology. She is currently developing protocols for evaluating toxicity, genotoxicity and internal doses of chemicals with a new model organism, the marine amphipod of circumtropical distribution, Parhyale hawaiensis.
