My professional practice integrates two areas of knowledge: Marine Sciences and Scientific Communication. Undergraduate biologist, the line of research in marine sciences started since graduation continues until today with studies of trophic ecology, population ecology, community ecology and, more recently, with interdisciplinary approaches in marine science, researching the interface between ecology, oceanography, marine pollution, coastal management and socioecological and economic aspects. Key topics of interest in this area are how patterns and processes of marine communities are influenced by multiple stressors in the coastal zone at different scales of space and time. In 2012 I was hired at UNIFESP for methodology and scientific communication and, since then, I have been developing an academic career in this area. In addition to lectures and undergraduate and postgraduate courses, I am a consultant to the British Council for Scientific Communication workshops, coaching the finalists of national competitions (Famelab / British Council and ScienceSlam / Euraxess) in 2018, participating in the Network of Experts in Conservation and Communication of the Boticário Group Foundation. More recently I integrated the two lines of research to act in the science-public policy-society interface. The goal is to understand how scientific communication can strengthen decision making and engagement between university and society and which methods are most effective. From this line was created the project "Tide of Science" where the Citizen Science and Participatory Public Policy Programs for the coastal zone are being developed. Currently, I contribute in different spheres of management and consolidation of the UNIFESP Institute of Marine Sciences and in strengthening its proposal on interdisciplinarity in the Marine Sciences. I am participant in different Brazilian networks and projects; I am one of the Brazilian representatives in the UN Regular Process for the Marine Environment Assessment, including socio-economic aspects, and responsible for the project (CNPq) to develop the Brazilian Communication Strategy for the Ocean Decade, in partnership with UNESCO and the Boticário Group Foundation. My performance is through an extensive network of national and international collaborations, highlighting the intensive investment in the consolidation of partnerships between Brazil and the United Kingdom over the last 10 years, with a vision of internationalization that goes beyond punctual and own partnerships research group, but generating opportunities that culminated in funding, projects and publications among other collaborators. Leadership and interdisciplinary work in these areas are represented in the professional history by dozens of scientific and dissemination articles, chapters and fundraising, together with the formation of human resources and the consolidation of a group of excellence integrating research in the areas of Marine Sciences and Scientific Communication and understanding qualified scientific production not as the end of the scientific process, but as the means of transformation of society.
