Appointments with the Graduate Program in Sustainability (Environmental Science and Technology area) and the Program "Environment, Health, Sustainability" (School of Public Health - USP). At undergraduate, teaches for the Bachelor Environmental Management. During his doctorate he was also Visiting Scholar at Miami University, USA (PhD Sandwich). He obtained his Ph.D. from USP in the area of sanitation - wastewater treatment. He holds a postdoctoral degree (Sabbatical Leave) from the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, University of California - Berkeley, USA (2015-2016). He coordinated the Postgraduate Program (M.Sc;, P.hD.) in Sustainability, and was one of its founders. Experience in coordinating projects funded by FAPESP, FINEP, World Bank, CNpq Unesco. He chaired the Postgraduate Committee and is the leader of the Research Group (CNPq) "Water, Sanitation, and Sustainability" - GEPASS since 2008, coordinates the Laboratory of Research in Sanitation and Environmental Technology (LabTecSan), coordinator of InovaLab Environmental Sustainability (teaching, research, and outreach). Among his main interests in the fileld of environmental science and technology are: wastewater treatment systems, production of bioenergy in bioelectrochemical systems, removal of organic micropollutants (pharmaceuticals, hormones, personal care products) in natural water and wastewater. resources recovery from wastes. He is a representative of USP in the EXCEED / SWINDON project - "Sustainable Water Management in Development Countries" (with 23 universities in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America) financed by Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung - BMZ (Germany) as representative of Latin American universities (2017-2018).
