Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR). Centro de Ciências Exatas e de Tecnologia (CCET)  (Institutional affiliation for the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Emerson R. Camargo was born in Brazil in 1970 and received his B.Sc. in Chemistry (1996) and his Master in Physical-chemistry (1998) from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), During his undergraduate period, he was selected to participate in the PET-Special Training Program, with a scholarship from CAPES. In 1998, he went to Tokyo Institute of Technology (TITech), Japan, to work under the supervision of Professor Masato Kakihana, in the Materials and Structure Laboratory on the development of new soft chemical routes to synthesize nanometric ceramic oxides, where he received his Ph.D. Degree (2001). In 2002, he received the Tejima Award for he best doctoral thesis of an overseas student in that year. In 2006, he was appointed to a permanent position as Associate Professor in Physical Chemistry of Materials at the Department of Chemistry of UFSCar. Current interests include the synthesis of ceramic oxide nanopowders through wet-chemical routes, such as Pechini-based methods, hydrothermal processing, peroxide-based methods and non-aqueous solvothermal routes; the synthesis and characterization of new nanocomposites materials thought the insertion of synthetic nanoparticles into commercial polymers; and the development dental modified materials. Until 2022,he published more than 90 scientific papers, accumulating more than 3000 citations (index h =26). Nowadays, belongs to CEPID/LIEC group, one of the most well equipped laboratory in Brazil, which is supported by Fapesp, CNPq, and several private companies. Collaborates with the new Center for Research in Advancend Materiais and Energy (CPqMAE/UFSCar). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
