I graduated in agricultural engineering from UFLa (1987). Master and Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from FEAGRI / UNICAMP (1992, 1998). Full Professor at the University of São Paulo (2022). Coordinator of NUPEA - Research Center for Ambience at USP since 1991. He has experience in the field of Agricultural Engineering, with emphasis on Rural Constructions and Ambience, acting mainly on the following themes: Animal Welfare, thermal comfort, and animal ambiance, with the use of livestock precision farm tools. Currently works with disruptive technologies in animal production with the insertion of artificial intelligence (AI) tools. He served as a technical-scientific director of SBEA (Brazilian Association of Agricultural Engineering, 1999-2007). Vice-President of the National Agricultural Engineering Association (1999-2003). From 2006 to 2011, he was President of the Brazilian Society of Biometeorology (SBBIOMET). He serves as a member of the editorial board of several magazines in the field of agricultural engineering, agronomy, and animal science. In 2014/2015, he was a visiting professor at the Center Campbell Study of Animal Welfare (CCSAW) at the Bioscience Department, University of Guelph, Canada. In 2016, he was considered one of the 100 most influential people in Brazilian poultry. He is currently a technical consultant to the Ministry of Agriculture in the area of #8203;#8203;animal welfare. He is the coordinator of the Brazilian Congress of Precision Animal Science, at AVESUI'2021.
