Chemical Engineer (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul PUCRS, Brazil, 1983), M.Sc. and D.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul UFRGS, Brazil, 1988 and 1992), with emphasis on Nuclear Engineering and Computational Fluid Dynamics, respectively. He is currently a consultant of different Foundations for research support from the State of São Paulo (Fapesp), the State of Rio Grande do Sul (Fapesrgs), and FedChemical Engineer (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul PUCRS, Brazil, 1983), M.Sc. and D.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul UFRGS, Brazil, 1988 and 1992), with emphasis on Nuclear Engineering and Computational Fluid Dynamics, respectively. The academic carrier has started as a professor of the University of Caxias do Sul (UCS, Caxias do Sul, Brazil, 1987-1988) control theory and numerical methods. He jointed as a researcher to the National Institute for Space Research (INPE, Brazil) at 1988 up to now, working in the Associate Laboratory for Computing and Applied Mathematics (LABAC), being a Senior Researcher A-III since 2005. He has also been the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Applied Computing (CAP, 1999-2002) in the INPE. He was Head of the LABAC-INPE (2001-2004), and Deputy of the Coordination of Special Technologies (COCTE-INPE, 2001-2004). During two periods, he was member of the Technical-Scientific Council (CTC-INPE, 2005-2008, 2012-2015). He was the Space and Environment Associate Director (INPE, 2008-2010). For the professional associations: elected as a Council member of the Brazilian Society of Computational and Applied Mathematics SBMAC (2005-2007); President of the Pan-American Association of the Interdisciplinary Computational Sciences (PACIS, 2013 until now). He has supervised 6 visiting and postdoctoral fellows, and 26 doctoral and 18 masters students. His research interests include inverse problems in space research, mathematical modeling of atmospheric turbulence, machine learning applied to geosciences, neural network as a new technique for data assimilation, scientific and hybrid computing. eral District (Fapdf).
