is a Full Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the School of Engineering of Sao Carlos University of Sao Paulo. His research interests are primarily concerned with analysis of nonlinear circuits and power systems. His contributions include the development of direct methods for stability analysis of power systems, nonlinear control design for power systems and observability analysis in state estimation. Prof. Alberto is the author of the books Stability Analysis of Power Systems (in portuguese), published by EESC-USP, and "Stability Regions of Nonlinear Dynamical Systems", publicado por Cambridge University Press. He has also published more than 200 papers on journals and conferences. Luis received both Master and Doctor degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil, in 1997 and 2000, respectively. He joined the same university as a professor in 2002 and had 2 one-year appointments as a visiting professor with Cornell University in 2004 and 2011. He is an active IEEE Member since 1994, Senior Member of the IEEE since 2012 and the recipient of the Instituto de Engenharia award in 1995. He was the Secretary Chair of the Brazilian Society of Automatica (SBA Sociedade Brasileira de Automática) in 2013-2014 and Treasury Director in 2019-2020. He was Chair of the Technical Committee of Power and Energy Circuits and Systems of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society in 2013-2014. Currently, he is associate editor of the IEEE Trans. on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
