Ruth Guinsburg

Medical graduation from the Escola Paulista de Medicina -Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1982), Master's Degree (1988) and PhD (2003) in Pediatrics from the Federal University of São Paulo (1988). She has been a supervisor/mentor of the Pediatrics Post-Graduation program at the same university since 1997. She obtained the title of Specialist in Pediatrics in 1985. The neonatal fellowship was done in North Shore University Hospital Cornell Medical College (Manhasset, NY) in 1988-1990. Specialist title in neonatology in 1995 by the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics. Since 2007, she has been the Full Professor of Neonatal Medicine at the Department of Pediatrics at the Universidade Federal de São Paulo. She is the co-coordinator of Neonatal ICU at Hospital São Paulo (university hospital of Universidade Federal de São Paulo) since 2000. She was the head of the Division of Neonatal Medicine of Universidade Federal de São Paulo in the 2013-15 and 2015-2018 terms. In the 2018-2023, she is the vice-head of the Division. She is the co-chair of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program of the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics since 2007. Editor-in-Chief of Revista Paulista de Pediatria, the scientific journal of the Society of Pediatrics of São Paulo, indexed in Medline/PubMed (2013) and Web of Science (2020). She has been an associate editor of the BMC Pediatrics journal since 2020. She has been scientific c0-chair of the Brazilian Neonatal Research Network since 2016. She is a member of the Neonatal Task Force of the International Liaison Committee on Neonatal Resuscitation (ILCOR) since 2005 and is now serving as an emeritus member. She has experience in the area of Neonatology, the main lines of research being : Pain in the Newborn, Diseases in the Neonatal Period, with emphasis on resuscitation of the newborn in the delivery room, and Neonatal Mortality.
