Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP). Campus Baixada Santista. Instituto de Saúde e Sociedade (ISS)  (Institutional affiliation for the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Gustavo Fonseca is dedicated to research in the field of ecology to better understand the mechanisms that structure marine communities, in the field of statistics, implementing new approaches to deal with multivariate data and in the area of taxonomy and systematics to understand the high diversity and evolutionary success of free-living nematodes. He is currently a professor at the Instituto do Mar of the Federal University of São Paulo (Imar-UNIFESP) and is linked to the post-graduate programs Ocean Coastal Systems (PGSISCO-UFPR), Biodiversity and Marine and Coastal Ecology (PPGBEMC-UNIFESP) and Interdisciplinary in Marine Sciences (PPGICTMar-UNIFESP).
