Medical doctor graduated by Universidade Federal Fluminense (1991), with medical residency at Instituto de Infectologia Emílio Ribas, PhD in infectious and parasitic diseases from the University of São Paulo (2002) and postdoc in infectious and parasitic diseases by Universidade Federal de São Paulo (2011).
