CV Lattes ORCID

Universidade de Sorocaba (UNISO). Pró-Reitoria de Pós-Graduação, Pesquisa, Extensão e Inovação  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Dr Fabio Squina is Pharmacist, MS in Food Science and Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology. He has the background on Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Omics Sciences. Fabio Squinas scientific interests focus on biocatalyst discovery and development of biotechnological routes for lignocellulose conversion into high value products. Dr Fabio Squinas research group has made contributions on metagenomics-based enzyme discovery field, establishing discovery platform, based on targeted community enrichment protocols and 'Omics' approaches. FSs group has also successfully engagement on the development of enzymatic routes for the production of natural probiotics, phenolic compounds, and antioxidant molecules. These biotechnological initiatives are aligned to bio-refinery interests based on the potential of adding value to lignocellulose, such as sugarcane bagasse. Dr. Squina received the prestigious Young Investigator Award from São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) on 2009. From 2013 to 2017, Dr. Squina coordinated Industrial Innovation project with Eli Lilly Brazil as co-Financier. Since July 2017, Dr. Squina coordinates FAPESP thematic grant entitled: Lignin valorization in cellulosic ethanol plants: biocatalytic conversion via ferulic acid to high-value chemicals. Dr. Squina has published more than a hundred papers and disclosed eight certificates of patents. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
