Dr. Ferrari holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Computing (DC) at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). He earned his bachelor's degree (December/1995), master's degree (March/1998), and Ph.D. (March/2002) in Electrical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP-São Carlos) with a specialization in Medical Image Processing. From February/1999 to February/2000, he conducted experimental work for his Ph.D. at the University of Calgary, Canada under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rangaraj M. Rangayyan. Dr. Ferrari completed two post-doctoral fellowships: the first at the Seaman Family MR Research Centre (Calgary, Canada, 2003) and the second at Sunnybrook Hospital (Toronto, Canada, 2007). Before joining UFSCar, he worked as a researcher in Canada for several years. His research interests lie in multidimensional signal processing, statistical modeling, machine learning, computer vision, and pattern recognition. Applications of his work include systems for early diagnosis of degenerative brain diseases and dynamic analysis of cells in intravital microscopy images. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
