Victor Hugo Aquino holds a degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Chemical Sciences (1990), National University of Asuncion, Paraguay; a Master's Degree in Basic and Applied Immunology from Faculty of Medicine, Ribeirão Preto, USP (1998); a PhD in Basic and Applied Immunology from Faculty of Medicine, Ribeirao Preto, USP (2002); and a Post-doctorate from the Department of Clinical Medicine of the Medical School of Ribeirao Preto, USP (2002-2004). In September 2004, it was approved in the first place in the selection process to fill a position of Professor, in a Regime of Integral Dedication to Teaching and Research (RDIDP), for the Department of Clinical Analyses, Toxicology and Food Sciences of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirao Preto, USP, in the area of Virology. Since January 2005, he is responsible for the course of Virology in the FCFRP-USP in the Graduate program in Pharmacy. Considering his participation in teaching, research and extension, in September 2010, he obtained, in a public contest, the Title of Associated Professor in the Department of Clinical Analyses, Toxicology and Food Sciences, in the area of Virology. In June 2013, he had the career progression approved by the Commission of Sectorial Assessment of Biological Sciences II of USP for level 2 of the Associate Professor's career. He has experience in the field of Applied Microbiology, with emphasis on Virology, working mainly on the following topics: flavivirus, orthobunyavirus, herpesvirus, viral phylogeny, diagnosis, pathogenesis, evaluation of antiviral activity of natural and synthetic compounds.
