He has a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1993), a master's degree in Entomology from the University of São Paulo (1995) and a doctorate in Entomology from the University of São Paulo (2000) and post-doctorate from The Ohio State University (USA). He is currently a full professor at the Department of Biological Sciences at the São José do Rio Preto campus of UNESP-Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, where he teaches courses in the areas of Invertebrate Zoology, Entomology and Social Insects. He is a supervisor at the PPG in Biodiversity at IBILCE / UNESP. He has experience in the area of Zoology, with an emphasis on systematics and natural history of aculeate wasps, with an emphasis on Vespidae.
