Julio Ricardo Sambrano has a degree in Mathematics and a Master's in Applied Computational Mathematics, emphasizing numerical analysis. He completed his doctorate in Chemistry at the Federal University of São Carlos in 1999, and carried out Postdoctoral and Research internships in Theoretical Chemistry groups at Universities in Spain and Italy. He is a Professor at the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Sciences at São Paulo State Univesity (Unesp), and CNPq Research Productivity Scholar (PQ1) with h index=35. He was the Scientific Director of Brazilian Material Sociente in the 2014-2016 biennium and acted as a reviewer in more than 45 international specialized journals and three national ones and advisor to scientific agencies in Brazil and abroad. He works mainly in the area of Materials Engineering, with an emphasis on Modeling and Computational Simulation in Ceramic Materials. His work focuses on the electronic and structural properties of solids, surfaces and oxide nanotubes, adsorption processes, doping, and modeling surface reactions.
