Experiência na área de Bioquímica, com ênfase em Biologia Celular e Molecular e Biotecnologia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: a)Controle de proliferação celular e origem de neoplasias, utilizando técnicas de genômica, transcriptômica, genômica funcional e proteômica; b)Diferenciação de células-tronco visando regeneração e reparo de tecidos; c)Terapia Celular baseada em células-tronco e adultas aplicada a doenças degenerativas (transplante clínico de ilhotas pancreáticas humanas em pacientes portadores de diabetes tipo 1 hiperlábil) e engenharia de tecidos. d)Produção de proteínas recombinantes em sistemas de expressão heteróloga (bactérias, células de mamíferos e sistema de baculovírus/células de inseto) para a geração de biofármacos recombinantes como: prolactina humana, leptina humana, hormônio folículo estimulante FSH humano e bovino, amilina/IAPP humana, Fatores de coagulação humanos FVIII, FIX e von Willebrand, Proteínas Morfogenéticas de Osso - BMPs 2, 4 e 7 para reparo ósseo, platelet-derived growth factor humano PDGF, vascular endothelial growth factors VEGFs, basic fibroblast growth factor bFGF, granulocyte and granulocyte and macrophage colony-stimulating factors G- and GM-CSFs, R-Spondin, entre outros. Formou 41 Doutores e 14 Mestres, supervisionou mais de 30 pesquisadores pós-doutores e ofereceu treinamento para mais de 40 alunos de Iniciação Científica.
