Professor of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, Director of Laboratory of Environmental and Thermal Engineering (LETE) and Director of Comfort Engineering Center (CEC) at Escola Politécnica of the University of São Paulo. Research Productivity Fellow of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq - Brazil) (Level 1B). Holds the following degrees and titles: Mechanical Engineer (University of São Paulo, 1984), M.Sc. (Eng.) (Yokohama National University, 1987), Ph.D. (Eng.) (Yokohama National University, 1990), Livre-Docente - Habilitation (University of São Paulo, 1996) and Full Professor (University of São Paulo, 2006). Former Coordinator of the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program (1999-2002 & 2008-2011) and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (2011-2015). Conducts research on thermal engineering, thermal systems optimization, instrumentation and bioengineering. Supervised 18 doctoral thesis and 24 master's dissertations. Authored more than 160 scientific papers in indexed journals and peer-reviewed conferences. Holds three patents. Has led research projects in the following topics: optimization of thermal equipment and systems, heat transfer enhancement, aircraft cabin comfort, primary processing of oil and gas, modeling of heat and mass transport in bio-systems. Has been Principal Investigator (PI) of several research projects in collaboration with Embraer, Boeing, Shell (BG Group), Prysmian, Multibras (Whirpool) and other leading companies.
