Adjunct Professor C1 and Head of the Division of Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Immunology - Department of Biological Sciences (DCB) of the Institute of Environmental, Chemical, and Pharmaceutical Sciences (ICAQF) of the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), Campus Diadema. In addition, he is the Agent for Research, Innovation, and Internationalization (PII) at ICAQF/UNIFESP. Graduated in Biological Sciences by State University of Montes Claros (UNIMONTES), Master's and Doctoral degrees in Sciences by the Infectious Diseases Postgraduate Programme of UNIFESP, and Postdoctoral fellow in the Discipline of Infectious Diseases of Escola Paulista de Medicina (EPM)/UNIFESP. He completed a sandwich doctorate (2009-2010) at the Servicio de Microbiology of the Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla (HUMV) in Spain. He was supervisor of the ALERTA Laboratory (2010-2018) and of the Special Laboratory of Clinical Microbiology - LEMC (2008-2009), which belong to the Department of Medicine of EPM/UNIFESP. He is a registered advisor for the Postgraduate Programs in Infectious Diseases and in Microbiology and Immunology, both at UNIFESP. He has experience in the field of bacteriology, with emphasis on the molecular characterization of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and the mobile genetic elements associated with these determinants in clinical and environmental bacteria.
