Cibele Palopoli received her Doctor's Degree in Arts (Music, 2018), her Master's Degree in Arts (Music, 2013), and her Bachelor of Music (Flute, 2010), all from the University of São Paulo (USP). She is coordinating the Music Undergraduate Course at the Catholic University of Santos since 2019. At the same university, Mrs. Palopoli is responsible for the Ethnomusicology, Brazilian Popular Music, Ear Training and Sight Singing, and Research Methodology classes since 2016. During her Masters, Cibele conducted part of her studies at King's College London (2012), with an International Mobility Scholarship funded by Santander Group. She places a high level of importance on academia, having presented articles in Brazil, Scotland, Ireland, Lithuania, Portugal, and Spain. As a flutist, Mrs. Palopoli is specialized in Brazilian Popular Music, particularly in playing Choro, forming part of the USP Choro group that toured Mozambique (2010), and Ôctôctô, that toured Portugal (2014), Germany (2014), United States (2015), United Kingdom (2015), and Uruguay (2019). The present project of Scientific Initiation proposes musical analysis and performance of Retrato I (1974), for flute and clarinet in Bb, and Retrato II (1979), for two flutes, by the Brazilian composer Gilberto Mendes (b. 1922).
