Ivan Rocha is nowadays a visiting researcher at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi in the MCTIC/CNPq Institutional Capacity Builder Program (PCI) and Professor (postdoc) in the Graduate Studies of Sociocultural Diversity (PPGDS/MPEG), developing a project of description and documentation of indigenous languages of Amazonia to produce multimedia dictionaries of endangered languages. Before that, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo on the semantic of tense/time and aspect in Karitiana. He holds a bachelor, master, and Doctorate in Linguistics from the University of São Paulo. During the doctorate research, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Texas at Austin, developing a study on subordination and nominalization in Karitiana. He has carried out fieldwork with the Karitiana indigenous people describing their language since 2009. He has experience working on description, documentation, and theoretical linguistics.
