Ana Luíza Garcia Millás Massaguer

CV Lattes ORCID

Birthplace: Brazil

Ana Millas is a PhD at the School of Chemical Engineering at UNICAMP State University of Campinas (Brazil). She had a period at Cornell University in the Department of Fiber Science and Apparel Design, where she has been working on the production of scaffolds for tissue (skin) care using the technology of electrospinning and 3D printing, under the supervision of Prof. PhD. Juan Hinestroza (Oct.2013-May.2014). In 2012, she has been to Oxford making part of my PhD research at The Electrospinning Company in collaboration with the Nottingham Trent University/UK, there she focused on biodegradable fibers related to regenerative medicine applications. In 2004 when she graduated in biological sciences, as a internship she has moved to Amazonas state/Brazil where she worked on Management Plans for the Exploitation of Natural Resources at the Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve. In 2007, she made the move to Sao Paulo for around three years, where she worked on the field of dyeing and finishing textile industry, acquiring knowledge and interest in natural and synthetic fibers. After the industry experience, she begun her Master?s degree in chemical engineering with specialization in nanotechnology, polymers and fibers at Unicamp. The emphasis of her studies was in understanding the fundamentals of the electrospinning technology and assisting the installation and implementation of the technique in the laboratory using different type of polymer solutions. At the end of he master?s degree there were promising results with the incorporation of therapeutic essential oils on fibers which became a patent. She has previously lived in England, for 6 months in 2006 to study English and work as a volunteer researcher in the Zoological Society of London's Freshwaters and Marine Conservation Project, at the London Zoo, with active participation on the Thames Marine Mammals Sightings Survey Project.
