Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Escola Politécnica (EP)  (Institutional affiliation for the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Professor of the Civil Engineering Department of the Polytechnic School of USP (PCC Poli USP) since 2008, he is currently Associate Professor of Engineering (2016) in the area of construction materials. He holds a bachelor's degree (1992) in Materials Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos, a master's degree (1996), a doctorate (2001) and a postdoctoral degree (2003) in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos. He developed a post-doctoral (2005) and a Young Researcher FAPESP (2007) in the area of Civil Construction Engineering. He is a guest professor at the ETH Zürich University (Switzerland) in the field of special concrete rheology, where he has a postdoctoral degree (2019) in Digital Concrete Manufacturing projects, including 3D printing (I3D) and Smart Dynamic Casting (SDC), among other technologies. He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and was responsible for the implementation of the rheology laboratory for reactive suspensions applied to civil construction at PCP Poli USP. He has experience in both refractory and Civil Engineering materials, with emphasis on Materials and Construction Components, working on different themes and projects: innovations in rheological characterization techniques for different cementitious materials; development of eco-efficient cement products; study of the rheological behavior of concretes and mortars; use of waste as raw materials for cement products; use of additives in cement systems; concrete and mortars with built-in air; digital manufacturing of cementitious materials; principal researcher of the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT / CNPq / FAPESP) "Advanced eco-efficient technologies in cement products"; member of the executive board of the Embrapii Unit - Eco-efficient Construction Materials (UE-MCE), installed at the Polytechnic School of USP; coordinator of the Embrapii project with the company Vale, which investigates the potential of using iron ore tailings in construction materials and components; coordinator of the project for the use of bauxite waste as an addition of cement materials, being the Brazilian academic representative at the International Aluminum Institute; research coordinator with the Sectorial Consortium for Technology Innovation in Mortars Coatings (CONSITRA E); participates in the multi-institutional project for the development of asbestos-free asbestos cement components. He is one of the coordinating professors of the Laboratory of Microstructure and Ecoefficiency of Materials (LME) of the Department of Civil Engineering of the Polytechnic School of USP and participates in the constitution and construction of the first building "Living Lab" of Brazil, called CICS - Center for Innovation in Sustainable Construction.
