Ricardo Sobhie Diaz was born on June 6th, 1962. Physician graduated from Escola Paulista de Medicina, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (EPM/UNIFESP) in 1986, with residency at this same Institution in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases between 1987 and 1989. Finished master degree in 1991 and doctorate degree in 1993 at EPM/UNIFESP. Worked his post doctoral in laboratory medicine studying the genetic diversity of HIV and its relationship to pathogenesis at the current Former Irwin Memorial Blood Centers in San Francisco, California, USA, by the University of California at Berkeley. He is Associate Professor and Associate Professor of infectious disease discipline at EPM / UNIFESP. He serves as Director of the Retrovirology Laboratory of this Institution, conducting research in virology, molecular biology, transitional (translational) research and clinical research with HIV and related viruses. Leads a group of researchers who conduct research in basic and clinical areas, including graduate students at various levels. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
