I hold two undergraduate degrees: licenciate in Philosophy (1972) and Mathematics by the olformer Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Sorocaba (1974), now UNISO. At post-graduate level I hold a MA in Ecology by the National Institute for Amazonian Research (INPA -1977) and a Ph.D. (1982) in the School of Biological Sciences - University of East Anglia, UK. I am a Retired Reader in the Department of Ecology UNESP - Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, at Rio Claro, where I taught Quantitative Ecology, Statistical Models in Ecology at the undergraduate level, from 1984 to 2010. At graduate level I taught Fish Population Dynamics and Statistical Methods for Biological Sciences. Since 2018 I hold a professorship at UFPA Belém and I advise students at UFSCar - Sorocaba, since July 2012, a certified teacher in the Master course in Ecology at UNISANTA (SP). I have expertize in the fields of Fisheries Resources and Experimental Statistics, with emphasis on Inland Fisheries, acting on the following topics: Amazonia, fish ecology and fisheries management of fish stocks using mathematical and statistical models both analytic and with simulation programs. I am a member of the ACIESP (Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo) and Fellow of The Linnean Society of London since 1994. In 2020 I was recognized among the 100,000 most influential Scientists in the world, of which 600 are from Brazil. The research was conducted by a team from Stanford University (USA).
