Angela Satie Nishikaku

Graduation in Biomedicine at the Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (1999), master's degree in Immunology at the Universidade de São Paulo (2003) and doctorate in Immunology at the Universidade de São Paulo (2008). Postdoctoral researcher in Infectious Diseases at the Universidade Federal de São Paulo (2014). Studies on immunology and microbiology, with emphasis on immunopathology of mycoses, in the following themes: experimental paracoccidioidomycosis, murine experimental infection, histopathology of mycoses, characterization of the granulomatous response evaluating components of the extracellular matrix, metalloproteinases, cytokines, immunohistochemistry, and studies on the pattern of granulomas in cryptococcosis, in the context of regulatory immune response. Also works in the field of molecular biology for the diagnosis of fungal (opportunistic and endemic mycosis), bacterial (tuberculosis and leprosis), and parasitic diseases (especially, leishmaniasis), by PCR and DNA sequencing methods, in addition to studies on the genetic diversity of pathogens.
