Medical Graduate from University of Sao Paulo (1970), Internship - internal Medicine and Pathology, Philadelphia General Hospital 1971-2, researcher University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Dept. of Allergy and Clinical immunology , 1972-3, Ph.D. (Microbiology and Immunology) University of Sao Paulo (1977), title of "Livre-docente" in 1988. Full professor(Department of Immunology) in 1999. Visiting Scientist to DNAX Research Institute Palo Alto, CA in 1990, 1993 and 1995. Head of Department 2001-3. Main Area of interest is cellular Immunology of infectious diseases including Trypanosoma cruzi (Chagas' disease), cutaneous leishmaniasis, cytokines, regulation of the immune response.. Acts as reviewer to several brazilian and international journals and research-funding institutions. Retired since 2007 , maintained research and graduate teaching activities as " Senior collaborator " to the Dept. of Immunology of the University of Sao Paulo until 2010. Since August 2012 acts as consultant to scientific projects and writing at the Instituto Israelita de Ensino e Pesquisa (IIEP) - Teaching and Research Institute - of the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo.
