Evandro Z Monteiro is an architect, urban designer, research scholar and professor at Unicamp, State university at Campinas, Brazil. Prior to his academic career, worked as campus' architect at the Project's Coordination Division of Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban Studies, between 1994 and 2004. During that period he was in charge of a large quantity of architecture projects: new institutional buildings, renovations and annexes in Unicamp's campus, as well as projects for municipalities and other institutions. As a research scholar and professor he has been seeking, in the last 15 years, development and innovation in urban planning teaching practice and teaching methods. His first book, published in 2012, explores sustainable approaches to support urban planning and design, with a focus on self-construction. His main line of research is based on studies of urban morphology of existing tissues, their evolution, as well as the resulting conflicts and impacts on the urban landscape, especially in the city of Campinas. He was coordinator of the undergraduate course in architecture and urbanism at FEC / Unicamp, representing him in several councils and institutions, from 2013 to 2016. Since 2010, he leads, together with Profa. Emilia W. Rutkowski, the Research Group "FLUXUS: Teach-learning Laboratory in Socio-Environmental Sustainability and Urban Morphology", a group that in 2019 joined the DASMind research network (Design, Art, Space Mind). Since 2022, he has been a member of the scientific committee of PNUM, the Portuguese Network of Urban Morphology. He is currently research coordinator of the Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban Studies Faculty at Unicamp. ORCID: 0000-0002-6304-1614 (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
