Norberto Peporine Lopes is a Pharmacist, Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Doctor in Chemistry from USP and Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. He is currently Full Professor at FCFRP-USP, coordinator of the Research Center for Natural and Synthetic Products and the Center for Mass Spectrometry of Organic Micromolecules. In his unit, he held several elective positions, with emphasis on the Head of the Department of Physics and Chemistry and the Presidency of the Research Commission. He was a member of the USP Advanced Studies Group on the Ribeirão Preto Campus and of the Management Committee of the Supera Parque Technological Park. He currently holds the position of Coordinator of the Ribeirão Preto Hub of INOVA-USP (Innovation Center of the University of São Paulo) and coordinator of NIDUS (Nucleus for the Formation of Companies and Entrepreneurs), the first Residency in Innovation in the country. He is an associate member of the Brazilian Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Society of Mass Spectrometry (BrMass), the Brazilian Society of Chemistry (SBQ), the Brazilian Society of Pharmacognosy. He is also a Fellow of the American Chemical Society, Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He held the elected positions at SBQ of President, President-elect, Member of the Advisory Board, Member and President of the Fiscal Council, General Secretary, Treasurer, Deputy Director and Treasurer of the Natural Products Division. At BrMAss, he held the position of Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Advisory Board. He carried out short-term internships in Germany (University of Tunbigen), the United States of America (Washington State University) and the United Kingdom (University of Bristol). He developed his Post-Doctorate in Mass Spectrometry of Natural Products at the University of Cambridge (UK) and served as Guest Professor in Mass Spectrometry at the University of Muenster. He published more than 480 scientific articles (IH = 47) and received 10 awards, with emphasis on the BrMASS Medal, the Fernando Galembeck innovation award from the SBQ and the Jeremy Knowles award from the Royal Society of Chemistry. He is currently Editor of Rapid Communication in Mass Spectrometry (Wiley), Planta Medica (GA) and Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group), OMEGA-ACS (American Chemical Society) and Chemical Society Reviews. He works in the areas of Chemistry of Natural Products and Mass Spectrometry with an emphasis on Chemical Ecology. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
