Abstract | |
In the introduction to Scritti Corsari, Pier Paolo Pasolini suggests that the book, composed of newspaper articles published between 1973 and 1975, needs to be "reconstructed" by its reader. Starting from the idea that it is a fragmentary work, this dissertation proposes to reconstruct it through the recovery of the original medium in which the texts were published, that is, the newspapers and magazines in which they originally circulated. This research allowed to see the existence of several dialogues between Pasolini and his contemporaries, who debated, throughout the Italian press, themes of cultural, social, and political interest. Furthermore, this dissertation argues that newspapers represented for Pasolini's generation a space to reflect on the possibilities of intellectual action. Thus, in a context of public dialogues, Pasolini defended the importance of being a diverse and divergent intellectual, creating a paradigm of action that valued not only rationality (which he saw as becoming increasingly conformist), but also feelings. In order to present this public sphere, I have analyzed "the abortion polemic", carried out by Pasolini in the early months of 1975 when debating the legalization of abortion in Italy. Subsequently, I have analyzed the same debate, but from the perspective of women and the feminist movement. Finally, the particularities of debating in newspapers are explored through the dialogues between Pasolini and some of his main interlocutors, namely Franco Fortini, Alberto Moravia, Leonardo Sciascia and Italo Calvino. Through these debates one can better understand the context of Pasolini's developments, but also his own particularities as a public intellectual moved by the heart (AU) | |
