Abstract | |
The present study aims to investigate the Dionysian elements in the origins of Greek Tragedy, exploring the hypothesis that such poetic genre may have developed from an ancient choral performance associated with Dionysian cults. The work is guided through the referential studies of Pickard-Cambridge (1927, 1953), Burkert (1966), Else (1957a; 1957b; 1967), Kerényi (2002), Lesky (1996a, 1996b, 1985), Sousa (2003), among others. The research has the intention of understanding the formation context of the tragic art in the 6th century B.C., following the assumption that considers Thespis the inventor of the tragic spectacle, and of investigating the Dionysian rites that were practiced in Attica. To fulfill this purpose, it is carried out the analysis of the two main traditions, currents in the Antiquity, which provided information on the probable origins of the tragic drama (AU) | |
