Abstract

Inside-family violence against children and adolescents happens since the beginning of time; however, it gained attention of the authorities in the late 1980s, with the Federal Constitution and the Statute of the Child and Adolescent. Among the different types of violence, this research highlights sexual violence, characterized by a violation of the human rights related to the sexual freedom of the human being, for it is an erotic practice imposed on the child or adolescent through threat, physical violence or inducement of his or her will. Due to the significant role that the Reference Center Specialized in Social Care (CREAS, in Portuguese) has in caring for this population and their families, the objective was to understand the care provided by professionals in CREAS to children, adolescents and their families in situations of sexual violence in the city of Uberlandia, Minas Gerais. To appropriate the object of this study, the author approached the Paradigm of Complexity. It is a study with a qualitative approach, being configured as a strategic social research, based on the complex thinking. This referential allows an articulated view of the interactions and connections with the transdisciplinary and multi-dimensional perspective, seeking to contextualize reality as presented. The study included eight workers from CREAS, from the city of Uberlandia. Data collection was made through documentary research and semi-structured interviews. The notions of understanding and contextualization directed data analysis and articulation with the proposed referential. Four themes emerged: (1) Understanding of sexual violence by CREAS professionals; (2) The arrival of the children, adolescents and their families to CREAS; (3) The care provided by CREAS professionals to children, adolescents and their families; (4) The weaknesses and potentialities of care, mentioned by professionals. The need for a more articulated network service was understood, allowing the professionals to search for continuous training, and as a consequence rendering a service with quality and efficiency, benefiting the children, adolescents and their families taken care, as well as the professionals who develop this role (AU)
