Abstract

Preliminary results of our group suggest that Toxoplasma gondii tachyzoites present a fetuin-binding protein (Fet-BP) with apparent molecular mass of 80-kDa. Fet-BP was recovered in the buffer acid-eluted fraction upon affinity chromatography on immobilised fetuin column of the soluble antigen fraction from tachyzoites of the virulent RH strain that was previously depleted of lactose binding proteins on alpha-lactose-column. Since Fet-BP can bind to fetuin through glycan recognition, we suppose that it can play a key role in the invasion process events. This project aims identify Fet-BP to determine its biological role concerning to interaction between T. gondii and host cell. (AU)
