Abstract

In the last years the string inspired brane-world models have been widely studied due to their success in describing our (3+1)-dimensional universe and suggesting a solution to the hierarchy, horizon, flatness and cosmological constant problems. Our aim in this research project is to consider generalizations of the Randall-Sundrum model in more than five dimensions. Specifically, in six-dimensional models we are looking for 1) localization of gravity on a 4-brane, 2) a mechanism for keeping the extra dimensions small, 3) inflationary phases which could explain the past and present experimental data, and 4) comparison with the cosmology of codimension-2 brane-worlds.
