Abstract

This work is originated by the collaboration between the Fatigue and Aeronautic Research Group-DMT/FEG/UNESP and the Brazilian Industries of Airplane (EMBRAER). A composite processed by resin transfer molding will be characterized. In particular, in this scientific initiation work, a quadriaxial carbon fabric/epoxy resin composite will be analyzed by scanning acoustic microscopy to verify the imperfections in the material structures. From this laminated will be produced the axial fatigue and flexural specimens according to ASTM D3039 and ASTM D790-02, respectively. Results analysis will show if this material present aeronautic structural character to be recommended to the EMBRAER applications, which to promote a high quality of work environmental due to the possibility of emission pollution control, high use of material and a higher velocity components production observed for the RTM process. Hexcel composites, as a project partnership, provide the material to conduct the research. The specimens will be produced by EMBRAER. (AU)
