Abstract

Consumer electronics such as the iPod, currently the most sold mp3 player and already a common element in the urban experience, bring new issues to many fields of artistic creativity. Especially to the sound-art, iPod becomes an essencial object to comprehend some aesthetic changes running at the contemporary cultural universe.The iFluids° project is an artistic research towards the new mobile sound technologies made through an imersive point of view. It aims to discover and develop new ways to the perpection and recognition of personal music libraries through the connection between them and organic interfaces. This sociological, artistical and technical investigation will produce an interactive installation prototype and theoric text body. The prototype's goal is to hold a communication between personal iPods and water, on a poetic assemblage creating a contrast between the elements. The iPod used supplies the audio data bank, that will be remixed and transformed as people interacts on water-sensored interfaces. As a result, soundscapes built by this mp3 remixing will be transmitted to the installation"s environment.
