This research aims at exploring rugosity values (z0), average velocity profiles and turbulence intensity, based on urban ocupation typologis in the city of São Paulo, obtaining parameters for application in natural ventilation calculations using the IPT’s (Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas/SP) Atmospheric Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel. The values usually employed to correct wind velocity in architecture projects are pre-defined in the specific literature, based on urban characteristics found in European cities. This is a research of experimental and exploratory nature, which will aid in the verification of these values, based on the simulated urban characteristics – and adequation of values – which portray the urban reality in our cities.The object of study is the relation between verticalization and the changes caused to the natural ventilation in parts of two neighborhoods in São Pulo: Moema and Luz. To that end, two models – in the same (1:1000) scale – will be built, with densities and typologies representing each urban context.Verification of natural ventilation conditions in cities, with the study of models, aids in the drafting of architecture or planning projects, enabling higher precision in the evaluation of the ventilation in internal and external environments, based on a better understanding of the surrounding conditions.
