Abstract

The Migraine, primary headache with a significant impact on quality of life, may be accompanied by the phenomenon of aura, this being the cause of frequent complaints of vestibular symptoms such as vertigo and motion sensibility. The Cortical Spreading Depression, posterior circulation infarcts in the cerebellum, dysfunctions in calcium channels and sodium and potassium enzymes and decreased synaptic tract vestibuloespinal side, common in patients with migraine with aura, are responsible for balance changes, increasing the oscillation individual in the standing position. Despite these changes and the symptoms are described in the literature, is not yet established whether the presence of such characteristics aura exacerbates the functional level. The aim of this study is to assess the dynamic balance, functional mobility and perception of balance in patients with migraine with aura compared to migraine without aura, through the Timed Up and Go, the Berg Balance Scale and the Dizziness Handicap Inventory. An examiner blinded to the diagnosis will evaluate 40 patients divided into two groups of 20 individuals, migraine with aura and migraine without aura, diagnosed by a neurologist as expert to the International Classification of Headache, which refer to between 6 and 14 attacks per month. Not participate in this study patients with the use of assistive device, gait disorders caused by neural dysfunction and / or muscle problems, history of ear disease, diagnosis of other types of headache, history of migrainous vertigo out of the migraine attack and BMI e 30. From the evidence that the aura compromise the patient's condition migraine, preventive strategies can be developed to treat these patients. (AU)
