Abstract

The post-doctorate project entitled "Integration of Intelligent Systems and Optimization by Orthogonal Component Decomposition for Identification and Location of Faults in Electric Power Distribution Systems" consists of the development of new methods for identification and location of high-impedance faults based on the optimization technique by decomposition in orthogonal components for voltage and current waveforms, which will be integrated with several methods coming from the computational intelligence (artificial neural networks, genetic algorithms, intelligent agents and fuzzy logic) and classic techniques of signal processing. The expected final result is the proposition of a unique integrated system that, considering the results of these new developed tools, is capable to identify, to locate and to classify in an efficient way the several types of high-impedance faults that can happen in distribution lines, contributing indeed to minimize the necessary time for reestablishment of the electric power supply.
