Abstract

In this project I present the idea for a research about the parlamentary quest around slavery abolition in Imperial Brazil. The research will be made through the analysis of parlamentary debates from 1883 to 1888. From the documents I intend to study what were the interests involved in this debate and what was its role to solve the slavery question. This project is part of a theme project called "Formação do Estado e da Nação – Brasil, c.1780-c.1850" directed by Professor István Jancsó financed by FAPESP.
